2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid EV Mode won't switch to electric when car is idle, parked, or going below 40 mph. This occurs 1-2 times a week. Surf City Nissan said other owners with the same car have reported the same problem. Other Problems: -Once a week, the engine would sputter/shake violently when first turned on in the morning after a few minutes idle. Sounds like metal clanking against metal. -Car engine smells if going faster than 30 mph up long steep hills. Smells like it is burning. It was taken in to be fixed, they found a plastic bag in the exhaust pipe. It did not fix the problem, car still has trouble going up hills. (Situation: Driving up Park AVE in Laguna Beach, I drove a Prius, Taurus, Suburban, and never had a problem) Minor Problems: -Moon roof squeaks loudly when opens and closes. It was taken in and they greased the tracks. Outcome is the moon roof still squeaks occasionally despite dealer effort to fix it. -Passenger window rattles when opened at a certain position. -Breaks squeak occasionally when decelerating, I do not know if this is normal.
